Amara Legal Center Honors Andrew Thornton-Dibb and McGuireWoods

September 14, 2022

Amara Legal Center honored McGuireWoods and Washington, D.C., associate Andrew Thornton-Dibb with the 2022 Amara Legal Center Circle of Hope Law Firm Award, presented during a Sept. 8, 2022, virtual Amara Honors event.

The award recognizes Thornton-Dibb and the firm’s commitment and dedication to the organization and to the anti-trafficking movement through their work on several projects, including helping create the D.C. vacatur toolkit.

The D.C. Trafficking Survivors Relief Amendment Act of 2018 allows human trafficking survivors to vacate convictions and expunge or seal criminal records for certain offenses that occurred as the direct result of the individual having been a victim of trafficking. Thornton-Dibb and his team helped Amara create a toolkit to guide legal services providers in requesting vacatur and expungement relief for trafficking survivors.

Other McGuireWoods professionals assisting Amara’s mission and clients included D.C. associates Carrie Mobley and Farhan Zarou, Pittsburgh associate Chelsey Dawson Klein, and D.C. partners Ned Childs, Noel Symons and Katlyn Davis Farrell.
