Richmond partner Bob Redmond received the 2021 Social Justice Pro Bono award from the International Association of Defense Counsel. The IADC is an invitation-only group of civil defense lawyers in private practice and corporations dedicated to strengthening the defense bar.
Active in the IADC for the past 10 years, Redmond has chaired the Hazardous Substance and Toxic Tort Committee, and he started the organization’s Social Justice/Pro Bono Committee in 2016. He was honored with its inaugural pro bono award for his work with the IADC and in the Richmond community.
Though Redmond didn’t have a background in immigration, he taught himself immigration law and has spent the past 16 years working on more than 300 cases. In 2005, Redmond founded a pro bono clinic in conjunction with the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to serve the needs of Latino immigrants.
In addition to the IADC award, the Virginia State Bar and the City of Richmond Bar Association have recognized Redmond’s work with their highest pro bono awards.
